Website Content - Get Your Stuff Out There!
You've built an amazing looking website. It's got all the bells and whistles, you've paid hundreds for a web designer. Perfect. But now the big question is what do you put on it and how do you know if people are even going to come and visit it?
The answer is to create website content. But not just any old content. The content on your website is your showcase. Just remember that once people have seen through all the graphics and fancy flash animations, what they're really looking for on your website is content. And it needs to be top quality.
What do we mean by website content?
All it means is the stuff you put on your website. So it could be blog posts, videos, articles, podcasts and so on. It's also not just limited to your website. You want to post your content to article directories, video sharing sites, share tips on forums, comment on other peoples high traffic blogs, post on social media - the list is endless.
Here's three great tips on creating quality website content and getting it maximum exposure.
1. Keep your best stuff for your blog.
Your blog is the focal point of your online business. Take some time to write anything you put on your blog. Try and include some of your personality and who you are into any content you put on here. Keep it relevant to your niche and include things like latest news in your industry, your opinion on something controversial, an experience you've had lately that you can relate to your readers, tips on how you solved a problem in your industry and so on.
2. Use Different Media.
If you're an expert on your topic then it will be very easy for you to create audios and videos. Just turn some of the articles you've written into powerpoint slides and talk about them. Put the main bullet points on the presentation then record your screen using any of the popular screen recording softwares, like Camtasia, Jing or Screenflow. When you create a video, then you've automatically got audio as well, as it's very simple to extract that from your video.
3. Recycle and Syndicate Content
I've already touched on this with using articles to create videos and audios. But don't stop there. A very useful way to create new articles is to take some of you blog posts, and rewrite them for article directories. You probably don't want to include your personal stories in these as one of the main ideas behind article marketing is to get your content syndicated, meaning other websites will pick up your article and publish them on their website. Also put several articles together and create an ebook, then use as a free giveaway, post it to pdf sharing sites and ebook sites, post your powerpoint presentations to slidesharing sites like Scribd. While you're there, post your content to Facebook, twitter and any other social media website you're subscribed to.
The whole idea of recycling and syndicating your website content is to get it out to as many people as possible, to give you maximum exposure.
I've touched on some of the ways to get your website content out to the world but the list is endless. Don't worry if it sounds like a lot of work, think about outsourcing the repetitive stuff, once you've worked out a system that you can document.
