I love them but I find them so stressful! My little airplant at work is obsessed over because I am always certain I am not taking care of it properly no matter what it looks like.
I get it! My grandma is a wonderful gardener but she always tells people that they would be surprised by how many she kills. Like, I LOVE fiddle leaf fig and donkey tail plants but I'm not very good at keeping them alive. I gave up on the fiddle leaf until I have better growing conditions and I'm on my second donkey tail that is not doing so hot right now.
Sometimes they just die or get some frost or not enough sun. It happens! I'm not sure how much room you have but I have had great luck with ZZ plants, snake plants, and philodendrons. They are pretty dang hard to kill. Maybe you could get a desk size of one of those?
