Just finished compiling an entire list of people in my section I need to beat and why... a testament to my devotion to MN Speech.

So last night was a doozy. Awards finally started, and the top 8 were called up to the front, myself, Connor, and James included.
We wait for our names to be called. None of us are alternates, which means we’re all advancing. Perfect.
6th place. None of us three. Okay, so I actually did something. Cool.
“In 5th place, from [name and address withheld]…” I’m ready to step forward. “… Connor [name and address withheld].”
I stop, and I look up at him as he gets his medal. I eyeball every single member of my team in surprise. I did better than I thought I had. (Thank you, James.)
My name gets called next. 4th place. Beautiful. James took 2nd. There’s no one I would rather advance with.
So in my third round, James had begged me to beat him. He's really good, but I think that gave me the motivation he was aiming to give me.
Also there are 10 people in my category, and the top 6 advance. Wish me luck.
OMG OMG
OK
SO
It's the final five. (If you look on Speechwire you can always see who I'm talking about.) The two people who we all expected to WIN the meet took 4th and 5th.
This leaves my three friends, James, Connor, and Ben.
James takes third. Out of the three of them, I expected that much.
At this point, I was just ecstatic that one of my speech crushes and best friends was going to win.
Connor's name gets called. He was disappointed afterward, but I still love him.
So. That means. That
Ben.
Won.
The Meet.
AND I AM SO GOSH DARN HAPPY FOR HIM I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING.
In case you're wondering, I got 11th place. But that's beside the point.
Ok ok, I'm eyeing the auditorium rn... lots of friends in my category... also means lots of competition. Wish me luck.
Got a home meet today... time to wish me luck
What if I wrote a series about me and my speech friends as we survive high school and also an apocalypse...
One. Saturday. At a time.
OKAY somebody behind me just whispered for everybody to be quiet... really loudly and as a joke, y'know?
The entire commons area went dead silent for a second.
It was the funniest thing.
