Your assignment for this first weekend in May is to write a short and simple 5 line blessing. Here are some tips that could help you get started:
Start most of the phrases with “May….”
Follow a general theme such as nature as do the examples below. Other themes could be phases of life, times of the day, the body, food, colors, music, etc.
Allow the last line to be more general or a summary or…
When God’s people pray, heaven shakes, strongholds are broken, and power is unleashed.
More is accomplished through prayer than through all of our efforts.
The challenge is discovering creative ways for you to pray each day.
1. TRIPLE-FIVE PRAYERS
This method involves simply by lifting up
five people for
five minutes
five days a week.
This approach gives you one minute to pray for each person. Make a list of people you care
about who are far from God. Keep the list in your Bible, tape it somewhere private in your
home, in your phone, or put it some other place where you will be reminded to pray on a
regular basis.
If you are not sure how to pray, here are five simple suggestions:
1. Pray for their hearts to be soft to the presence and promptings of God.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to convict them of sin and help them see their need for God’s grace.
3. Pray for God’s blessings to flow into their lives and for them to recognize his goodness.
4. Ask God to break down obstacles in their lives that keep them from seeing and
responding to the Holy Spirit’s presence.
5. Surrender your life, time, and words to God. Ask him to use you to reflect his grace, serve
faithfully, and share his good news when the time is right.
Five people I plan to pray for:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

We all know that the Bible calls for us to tithe 10% of our income back to Him as our first fruits. I know firsthand, how difficult this can be when living paycheck to paycheck. Yet, I also know how God has blessed me when I’ve done just that. So, what does the Bible say about tithing? Tithing is giving God our first fruits Luke 11:42 “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and…
Several years ago, I took a class on creative journaling. Using a journal you can write prayers, scriptures, thoughts, quotes and other inspirational or challenging ideas. Then you decorate the pages with drawings, stamping, coloring, arts and crafts or what other artistic means you prefer. This form of journaling and meditation has become very popular. One example of creative journaling…
For years I’ve gone into nursing homes to sing and share my musical abilities. This experience actually opened the door several years ago when I was seeking a career change. Now, I work in my day job as an activities director. Today, I’m on the other side of the coin and looking for talent and people that are willing to come and share their talents with my residents. Music is the sound of the…
At Christmas and Easter, I love to attend Passion Plays. The re-enactments of watching the life come to Christ is so moving each and every time I see it and I receive something new each time. Drama is another creative outlet that can allow us to draw closer to God. Today, many churches now have their own drama groups in which you can become involved. Re-enactments are one example of drama 1…
When I was growing up we had a lady that walked the neighborhood praying for each person and household as she passed. When her health got to the point she could no longer walk, she spent the time before she fell asleep praying for everyone in the neighborhood. When she couldn’t remember the person’s name, she described that individual to the Lord. After she passed away, everyone could feel a…
We’ve discussed creative praying using art and the gifts we’ve been given. But we can also worship God using our arts and crafts. The examples in the Bible of using arts and crafts, were actually the crafts {or work} of the day. Today, many of these have become more of a wide range hobby, although there are still individuals who make their life’s worth with these ancient occupations {but my how…
