A TRUTH: we are co-creating the world as we want it. The "we" in this case are both those with progressive minds and ideas as well as those with less than progressive minds and ideas (often driven by fear) the universe is begging for balance that's the science of the Aquarian age. It's the age of knowing transitioning from believing (Pisces) the real life struggle in-between is often your karmic journey: your highest self is hard at work creating a reality for you to make a conscious choice to take responsibility and make fearless choices to realize your truth. Be patent with yourself and others. The dark side of being one who knows is being arrogant and over zealous. Learn your lessons an hold space for others to do the same. Stay spiritually hydrated/grounded. Water always finds its own level and its those who resist that law and live in fear of expansion/hydration that to often drown normalizing there resistance to change and calling it the "last days" as if they can pinpoint the first... To my beloved men (brothers, uncles, cousins, lovers, friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike) ------ One of the greatest gifts of my visit to Cuba was seeing men who could weep openly. Who could hold one another in a warm embrace without having their masculinity questioned. This balance of the feminine in them left me speechless. I hadn't even known how much I missed it. Seeing and hearing their expressions of love toward each other warmed me. I wept, at their weeping – for me, for us…for America and its politics fueled by a culture of aggression. I wept for the softness we are all so in need of. Women need to see it in you. It is your portal to us. You need to see it in yourselves. It is a gateway to your humanity – to something compassionate and yielding. Your misdirected anger at women and their bodies, your incessant conquering o'er the land spring from this – your inability to see that you cannot build an entire manhood on strength and force. It is incomplete and one-sided. And it robs all of us from some of the very best you have to offer. You are missed; the whole of you. When women finally stand in solidarity and say no more, it will not be because we are separatists or feminists or any -ists. It will be because we love you, and because we have found our strength. The time is upon us all to strike the balance. ox, me

Some days just don't have a whole lot of blog content. Today, i was reminded of some of the most challenging parts of my life journey. almost 15 years ago I experienced a Manic Episode that changed my perception of everything. What i though of myself, what others thought of me. What it meant to be labeled "crazy" and boxed into the fears of what others don't know, fear and don't understand.  Being tagged with a disorder forces you to recognize how hard people work to maintain "normal".

Nature is fascinatingly diverse with no known normal only a delicately held balance on a quest for expansion. A dance between chaos and order and a  filled with relationship and endless sacrifice and my own nature isn't much different.  No bad or good but thought makes it so.

Cabbage medicine

Yesterday I spent all day in the temple... Without much care for vertical world. Some days that's what spirit needs. I learned this week the cabbage is great medicine. Excellent bacteria for digestion when made into sourkrout and relieves engorgement in women who are nursing when applied topically until the leaf wilts. Ah the magic of nature. Here is to forgive of self for missing a day of blogging.

Recently i was asked what my fears around romantic entanglements are (I'm learning in this part of my life that not all relationships have o be entanglements)... My answer was:

"I fear that at some point something I do or don't do, share or choose not to share will activate in you a pain based on Romantic expectation or past injury. Then, it would be seen as natural to speak badly of me, grow jealous of my independence or angry at my boundaries (emotional, physical or other) demanding more of some ambiguous emotionally based ever changing need.  Blame me for being me or judge me because I don't fulfill your desires or expectations.  Then label me  rude for not wanting to play the bad guy in your drama. Slowly being to resent me though never brave enough to communicate it with words. Then i would again be labeled as inattentive, distant and or not present." 

I was a bit shocked at how fluidly my response came. In fact it was communicated with my thumbs through text. After getting over my own response time i had to recognized that I in fact was responding or at least voicing my previous pains. Telling on myself... The experiences of past relationships.. And as change is the only constant; my responsibility is to now forgive myself for holding on to these fears and let the images and expectations that come with them go. I must now trust that there are others in the ocean of life that will have the emotional maturity to allow me to be who I am and be able to communicate how be being me affects them without emotional finger pointing and insecure blame or a hunger to fix. I also recognized that the only way that this could have ever been a reality for me is because I too have been guilty of doing the same.  This too, i must forgive myself for.  Knowing that next time I will be able to recognized this behavior in myself and another without judgement and make a new choice. Today is a beautiful day perfect for house cleaning and meditation.  

I wasn't expecting the interpersonal on day 2 of the 31day blogging but it fits in the natural order of things.

The spirit of Sacred Vibes

Wednesday night I was invited by master herbalist Karen Rose of sacred vibes Apothicary in Brooklyn to speak to her level 2 apprentice class. I was asked to speak on my journey as a young priest of the indigenous practice of IFA and my growing intimacy with ancestral wisdom and energy. As the heat wave sun set over the largest borough in the world. We sat inside the womb of herbal medicine that is Sacred Vibes Apothicary (sacredvibeshealing.com). We sipped ice tea, tasted dark chocolate and the best lavender potato salad that I've personally ever had. I pored libation into a vibrant basil plant and the learners lent me there ears for the early evening. We spoke of the real challenges that come with the process of submitting ones self to being a student and servant of any nature based system. As they walk the path of learning what plant life has to to teach them about themselves, their environment and healing. The process of accepting ones purpose and how that shakes up your relationship with yourself and thus everything you thought you knew. We spoke of the integrity and language of spirit being both silent and vibrant. We spoke of those who are and will be coming out of the prison industrial complex after years of being conditioned into normalizing illness and survival. How the neglecting of human spirit can promote addiction and destructive behavior. We spoke of our roll as healers in these times. The importance of developing healing networks within a community and the intentionality of choosing a nature based path at this time In the evolution of the planet. We spoke of chakras and Orisha and the plants they speak through. We spoke of ancestral legacy and how our ancestors live through us. We spoke of planting positive seeds into the fertile ground of our own unconscious minds that by nature must grow. We spoke of choosing to release a fear based relationship to what we don't know or don't yet understand. I am truly grateful for the fulfillment of my quest to integrate my growth as a Omo IFA ( a very young student of the wisdom of nature) into authentic communities and practices focused on creating a world fit for our children and grandchildren to inherit. Slowly we use our creative intelligence co-create the world we wish to see.
