02Dec2020 This has been quite the challenging month of completing the NANOWRIMO challenge. Thankfully I have had the community of both my mother and my students. We have pulled ourselves through writing this month despite our struggles facing the challenges presented by the pandemic. By hook or crook we pushed through a national crisis and still produced solid manuscripts. That says a lot about the dedication and determination of my students. While not all of them were able to successfully complete the challenge, over half of my students were able to complete at least the 50k word count. That is truly a testament. Now I will be perfectly honest. This current manuscript is a REALLY rough draft. It still needs a lot of work. It is completely unedited. But for the purposes of NANOWRIMO and what I taught my students is that in 30 days you need to have a solid rough draft with a complete story arc, which I was able to produce and so were they. Is it ready for a beta reader at this point? No. I am going to need to hard edit it several times before even a beta reader sees it. But I do have a solid rough draft with a complete story arc on a memoir. Backstory: Day 29 57,071 total words I am truly amazed I was able to complete NANOWRIMO this November 2020. Most of the month, I had to dictate in my manuscript speech-to-text because I cut then sprained my right hand. It has been an interesting challenge juggling different responsibilities during this pandemic, writing and pulling through a new and continuing group of NANOWRIMO writers. I am proud to say that during this pandemic, over half of my students were able to complete the 50k word challenge in 30 days despite the challenges in their lives because of the pandemic.
