More than Seeds

  Dandelions are so unassuming

Ready to be plucked at any time

While they sway in the breeze

Fields at a time, or the lonely wallflower

Sunshine among green

Till they have grayed in their wisdom

Bearing the lode of seeds.

  Bright youth, yellow singing

You’d think that would be their prime

But to reach buttercups with such ease

Weeds, as such, with their breeding power

Does wisdom make a pallored sheen

Balding to expand their flourishing kingdom

Withering to complete their deeds.

  It may seem a sacrifice­– it’s more than kind–

what one would do to become wishes on the wind.

Creatividay

I've been struggling with what lifestyle changes I want to make this New Year. Not resolutions, because this makes it much more permanent. There's all the usual stuff– generally be healthier, keep in touch with friends, etc.– but I want to do something for what I'm interested in. Without school, I've lost a bit of what I enjoy. I want to learn new things. I want to physically make stuff. And be places I never even dreamed of. So here is how I evolve this year: I will do at least one creative/artistic thing a day. With good habits, good happens.Some of this art will be drawings, some will be poetic, or singing, or playing, or what have you.  And if I miss a day, I won't let that stop me from getting the next day in. Doing this, I will also go out of my way to learn new things. Understand the process of making a car. Figuring out how to better use inDesign from Lynda.com. And so forth. Let this year be one where I learn just how much I can learn from teachers outside of classrooms and syllabi.
