Today’s warm-up comic.
[Image description: Two Clone Troopers are scribbled next to a mangrove, waist deep in water. In the far background, there is a transport wreckage on a cliff.
Off page a trooper says, “The general could be anywhere.” The soldier closest to the mangrove replies, “Wait! I see their lightsaber.” In the next panel, the same trooper reaches out towards a lightsaber perched on some mangrove roots.
The panel after that shows, that actually, those mangrove roots belong to a Neti that’s mimicking the mangrove trees around them. The soldier picks up the lightsaber, and startles as the presumed ‘mangrove roots’ move, turns around, shouting “General!” as he stumbles in the water.
The Neti looks on in concern. The soldier saves the lightsaber from getting wet, then holds it out: “Your lightsaber Sir.” The Neti Jedi reaches back, taking the lightsaber, while small bumps appear on their ‘roots’ holding the lightsaber. The small bumps spell “Thank you.” The end. END ID]
Daail, the mangrove shaped Neti appears again. Another experiment in figuring out how Neti look in my Coral Reef Kamino AU (CRK-AU) and how they might blend in with their surrounding environments.
Plus rolling around the concept that Daail can’t verbally speak Basic: due to lacking the necessary anatomy to produce those sounds. I’m not sure whether I'll extend that to all Neti in the CRK-AU or not, but I'm thinking about it.
I’m also thinking that Daail’s laughter sounds like hollow, hard wood poles knocking together. (Because Daail would literally be making those hollow poles to knock together)
