Email from Dr. Hanna Maargonska ; Could it be? Crepedium raabbustamantei?
Dear Raab, At first about the Crepidium orchid. Were the photos of the plants taken
from Panay Peninsula Natural Park? When? Do you want describe a new taxon?
If yes:vHave you material for the type collection: 1-holotype (dried plant with
flowers) 1-few isotypes (the same date! and place! of collection as
holotype!, dried and additionally preserved in liquid)? The types have to
be good quality plants with at least several flowers. At the moment,
I am not sure statute of the new taxon: subspecies or only
var. I should see the plant and compare it with the species type
(I have the data right now at my laboratory). Another problem is specimens
collected by Elmer (no.17124) which also was noted as different from the
species type.
Do you have access to any botanical data at Philippines? To compare other
quadridentatum material? We should to know: is it endemic taxon, limited
only to the type-location or more common orchid.
Sincerely yours, Margonska
