A Tribute To Leonard Cohen On The Building Mural Near Crescent Street. Montreal Born Singer/Musician. A Colleague Of Mine Noticed It. Very Beautiful.
Crescent street, Montreal
A digital painting by Daniel Dociu called Crescent Street. Even though you can’t spot a character on this piece, there is still a lot of liveliness present. The streets are lived and clearly have been through a lot. Different styles of housing point towards a multi culti society
The Chaperones
I have been spending more time in cars lately — something I don’t find easy to get used to, with the traffic and the sense of confinement and the hybrid smell of vinyl and air freshener.
With my current ride at a standstill on Crescent Street, I think about opening one of the back seat windows but I know it’s freezing out and I don’t like to inconvenience people who are nice enough to let me hitch a ride into the city in their car.
Dinky is navigating. The Mediterranean is driving. The engine is idling, and I am wincing: Tim McGraw just heard a voice from the past comin’ from a few rows back...
“Do you think this Thai place on the left is any good?” asks the Mediterranean.
“It’s good,” I tell her.
“Oh, really?”
We inch past the traffic light, and once the Mobil station comes into view the car abruptly swerves to the right.
“Oooh, do I have time to get gas? Lemme pull over to get gas. Two minutes, in and out. Shoot, do I have my credit card on me yes I do in and out guys two minutes okay?”
We pull up to the pump, and the Mediterranean jumps out and shuts her door. Dinky turns around to ask me something.
“So how was last night?”
“Last night?”
“Yeah, after I left and the three of you went to the bar or wherever.” She glances over at the Mediterranean standing outside. “He didn’t like try anything with her, did he?”
"Nah,” I say. “Are you worried that he might?”
“It would just really annoy me if he did,” Dinky replies. “He should know better.”
“I'm not sure that I see anything happening,” I explain. “I mean, I’ve definitely joked about it with him — that in a strange way, she is sort of his type. But that’s just us talking shit. It doesn’t mean he’s gonna hit on her the next time he sees her.”
“Well, if he does try anything,” Dinky warns, “just know I am gonna slap him for it.”
The driver’s side door opens, and the Mediterranean gets in and starts the car.
“Guys, I think we’re gonna be a few minutes late,” she declares. “But there’s always a few people late so it’ll all be fine.”

Crescent Street hosted an EDM (electro-dance music) festival this past week. Crowds came out to party and dance to the beats of Sander van Doorn, Oftampa, Gramiani, Bynon, Sei8aS, David A, Kayliox, Etienne Ozborne, Mark & Sylvester, and Gagnant Concours on Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday’s show was a different line up with Cazzette headlining, but a strong supporting…

Amicability
During the post-brunch walk towards Queensboro Plaza, I notice two signs that have “Crescent Street” misspelled. My friends are going on about a man who had sat at the end of our table and ordered the steak and eggs (medium rare; scrambled).
“He said he ran into her on the street. On the street, like randomly.”
“I think she still lives in his neighborhood.”
“So they run into each other, and apparently she starts talking about how she’s met someone new and that she hopes he’ll find someone, too, and, ‘Hey, by the way, maybe you should try this app I used. It worked for me.’”
“That’s not good.”
“And I can tell he’s getting angry as he’s telling me this.”
“I told you – dude is still hung up on her.”
“But I give him credit for trying to stay friends with her. What do you think, 張? If it were you, would you still try to be friends with the girl?”
“Eh, depends on the circumstances.”
“Well, based on his circumstances, then.”
“Even then it’s hard to say. I mean, I never knew them very well as a couple. I never saw them argue about something or fight over something.”
“Okay, how about your own circumstances? Do you ever stay friends?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“I’m too good at slamming doors.”
