Nights in Riverdale were long, tedious, and isolating for Jughead. The Serpents were preparing for war and Jughead was at the forefront of the crossfire. His dad was busy working at Pop’s and so Jughead took most of the responsibility of managing the gang while his dad was away. Tonight had been a bit quieter after the rumble last week, a night of freedom all he needed to escape from the pain of Riverdale troubles. Quickly, he pulled his phone out and called his girlfriend, Betty. Once she picked up, he smiled. “Hey, Betty. It’s me... I’m just calling because I’m wondering if you’re free tonight? It’s been so long since we’ve just spent time together...”

THE FIRST TIME he’d found the orange bottle of pills, it was is her medicine cabinet. plagued by a headache && with a project due the next morning, betty had told him to take a break && get some water && excederin. he passed it off as nothing, not recognising the name, meaning it wasn’t anything TOO bad. opiates, amphetamines, those he would have recognised.

the second time, they were in her backpack, the bottle nearly empty this time. figuring she’d only bring something IMPORTANT with her to school, plenty full bottles of adderall left at home proof of that, he pulled out his phone and typed the name into a search.

Slipping the jacket on, Jughead let out a slow breath, releasing the tension he had felt all day before allowing his hands to unclench from the position they had taken. School had been rough - a serpent on the northside of town was rough, especially since the Northsider’s continued to look and judge, even when they had no right. Leaving the school every day allowed Jug to slip his jacket on and like clockwork, slip the mask he wore during school, off. Looking over to his left, he smiled softly towards Betty, nudging her shoulder softly. “Another day is finally done,” he whispers, rolling his eyes as even more Northsiders stare at them. / @crescentpalmed super old starter.

           Jug´s heart seemed to break at those particular words and he took in a deep breath, trying to hold himself together. He couldn´t see her HURT. Seeing Betty hurt was one of the few things he didn´t know how to deal with, because part of him wanted to hurt whoever had made her sad, but the problem was that, often enough, it was HIM.

        “I HAVE to go, Betty.” He spoke quietly, pulling his bottom like between his teeth. “But I´ll be back before you know it,”

           It was a BLACK eye, nothing more. It wasn´t something that would attract too much attention in this town, he was sure of that, but of course Betty would worry. Simply because she was Betty, and she cared too much about other people when she should have probably been caring more about herself.

              “It´s nothing,” He was quick to say as he moved towards the freezer to get out a pack of frozen pees. He hasn´t expected her to be HERE, in his trailer, either, so there was no real time for him to come up with a good lie. “it doesn´t matter, really.
