I understand the fact that the birds you saw so far weren't prehistoric, so I thought to go as far back as the Cretaceous period. Ichthyornis means "Fish Bird" as its vertebrae are unusually similar to a fish. They were aquatic and had teeth that weren't covered by their beak and were flat. Surprisingly, these animals were able to mature quite fast. If you were wondering if this was big, then they were only about the size of a pigeon, with a wingspan of 43 centimetres.
