A hopper barge
A hopper barge is a kind of non-mechanical ship or vessel that cannot move around by itself, unlike some other types of barges, that is designed to carry materials, like rocks, sand, soil and rubbish, for dumping into the ocean, a river or lake for land reclamation. Hopper barges are seen in two distinctive types; raked hopper or box hopper barges. The raked hopper barges move faster than the box hoppers; they are both designed for movement of dry bulky commodities.
Crew Boat
Turkey’s Arena Offshore has delivered a new shallow draft harbour tug and crew boat named Dorade, in addition to three smalloer pushboats. The vessels will be used for towage, moorning and pushing operations, and are all classifled by Bureau Veritas.
Dorade was desingned by Alfa Marina Desing, and is 22m in length with a moulded breadth of 7.7m and a draft of 2m. The vessel is powered by two Caterpillar C18 engines developing a total of 1.200bhp at 1,800 rev/min. Propulsion is delivered via two ZF fixed pitch propellers in Kort nozzles. Auxiliary power comes from two Caterpillar C4.4 generators, producing 65kVA at 1,500 rev/min A VDL Klima box cooler is employed , as are two ZF W650 gearboxes. Bollard pull ahead is 15 tonnes, and the tug boat offers a top speed of 12 knots.

Grandweld Shipyards, Dubai, has won a contract to design and build two 42 m crew boats for Fujairah National Shipping Agency (FNSA). The contract was signed on September 24. Grandweld says its 42 m crew boat is a world-class vessel fitted with IMO Tier 2 compliant main engines and advanced navigation and communication equipment.
