despite never really having an academic interest in history pre-1800s (my focus has always been the cold war) i have somehow accidentally surrounded myself with 1500s holy roman empire things lately??? like i've been playing the game manor lords for a long time, i watched @cryptotheism's video on mapmaking and was enthralled by it, and started playing pentiment yesterday, which, after watching that video essay, as soon as someone asked me what my opinion on martin luther was i was like o.0 as i had No Idea that's when the game was set when i opened it

just such a weird & specific era and region to suddenly have a moderate amount of information about. two weeks ago i couldn't even have told you what era manor lords was set in, just that it was medieval-ish germany

cannot wait until i live somewhere that i can get away with not owning a car. what a massive extra expense just to exist. and as a byproduct having to deal with mechanics who are endlessly trying to fuck you over. i reached out to a mechanic a friend recommended me as being not shady and within minutes the dude tried to say he’d charge me for plugging his little device in to check my engine codes. dumbass they do that for free at autozone!

i know and have witnessed a few folk who directly worship the fears of the magnus archives as a proper, religious belief; becoming basically a modern-day avatar. and i find the spirituality of it quite interesting. i am not strictly religious, but i believe everything has a will and intent (so, yes, basically pagan). so while i do not believe fears can be worshiped and served in the same sense they are in the canon of tma (that would involve a lot more apocalypse inducing threats), i do think there is a very realistic means of approaching that in paganism.

just as one can serve deities/concepts of love, light, and future - one can serve beings of dark, fear, and torment. That's what a textbook witch used to be depicted as in the first place. so yes, someone can absolutely and feasibly do things to feed the fears - because fear is not strictly tied to a piece of fiction. the piece of fiction is simply what categorized it the way it has. and the magnus archives has opened up a lot of creative, new feasible ways to feed beings of darker representation - that no wonder so many pagans jumped onto it.

there isnt a main point to this post, but just something i find deeply interesting. not trying to "validate" any tma pagans either, promise! worship and religion is just soo interesting cuz like. yeah. you totally CAN worship the fears from TMA. that is entirely historically plausible. fuck yeah
