2015 Healthcare Crime Survey Released by IHSSF

The International Healthcare Security & Safety Foundation (IHSSF) has released the 2015 Healthcare Crime Survey.  Among some of the notable findings (per 100 beds):

12% increase in the Violent Crime Rate in 2014 compared with last year and a 40% increase since 2012.

Significant decreases in the Assault and Disorderly Conduct rates.

There were around eight million crimes in the year to September 2013, according to the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW), which records victims' experience of crime whether reported to the police or not. The latest figures come amid concerns that police officers are routinely "fiddling" figures in order to make their performance look better. Last week the UK Statistics Authority, the statistics watchdog, withdrew "gold-standard" status from the police-recorded crime figures, which began in the 19th century, because of the "accumulating evidence" that they were unreliable. The number of crimes against households and adults has fallen by 10% to the lowest level since figures began, figures show.
