Reposted from @molecule_of_the_day (@get_regrann) - Crimidine, also known as Castrix, is a convulsant poison used as a rodenticide 🐭🚫. This highly toxic ☠️ substance was originally produced in the 1940s by IG Farben, a German chemical and pharmaceutical conglomerate. Now, it is no longer used as a rodenticide in the United States 🇺🇸, and is subject to strict reporting requirements by facilities which produce, store, or use it in significant quantities. However, many other countries continue to use crimidine freely. Crimidine is a fast acting convulsant, and the lethal dose is less than a gram. Symptoms include burning 🔥, itching and irritation, followed by fatal convulsions. Thanks 🙏 anonymous for the suggestion! The molecular structure was created using ChemDoodle.
