Caroline had taken a couple of boxes from her mom’s room the night before and closed the door, letting herself go through some of the many belongings while drinking straight from a bottle of whiskey. There was a pile of things slowly being built up and then sifted through, dwindling down to a small stack of things she thought she may be able to handle seeing around the house again.
She hoped she could get through her mom’s things at a reasonable pace, maybe then the bedroom could be redone and Leo would be comfortable sleeping somewhere other than the couch. Though she hadn’t wanted to mention it to him until she knew if she could even look through her mom’s things. And she could. It was going to be a slow process, but she didn’t even know if he would want to stay in her home much longer. She knew he felt guilty, even if he shouldn’t, and hopefully that guilt was wearing off, but along with that, the desire to stay with her and be around her was probably wearing off as well. Not that she could blame him.
Waking up the next morning without a hangover was nice, these were the moment’s she loved her little vampire perks. Looking around at the things stacked in her room, the blonde shook her head and decided to not wallow in her feelings on this day like everyone was probably expecting her to. She had found some boots in her mom’s closet while in her room and paired them with her old, paint splattered jeans and a tank top with one of her old sweaters. Caroline was prepared for the weather to take a turn or for her to fall on her ass. Both equally likely.
Heading into the kitchen, she was making sandwiches when she heard Leo walk through the back door. “Hey.” She called out, hoping he’d would pop his head in. “What do you say we go for those shooting lessons today?” She smiled, as she continued to make their sandwiches, wanting to have a good lunch and snacks packed. She turned as she heard footsteps walk in. “We don’t have to of course, I don’t know what you have planned for today. I just thought it might be nice to get out now that I’ve got some boots.”
