Enjin loses his first race and things turn left

The night smelled like gasoline and adrenaline. Tonight was the night you and Enjin had been preparing for. He fixed his car, checked and cross checked and even sent you to see if his car was making any wrong noise
You didn't understand why he was so nervous, he always won the race but you did what he asked anyway.
"You'll do good" You said staring into his tired eyes and kissing his lips and the side of his lips "I promise"
And now, here you were in his big leather jacket, on top of a red sleeveless mini dress, accompanied by your brown boots and your black purse. Enjin by the car with his boys were wearing a red shirt with baggy pants, accompanied by lumberjack shows, your bracelet, his good luck charm, sitting beside his own watch and his wedding ring sparkling at every chance it got.
Music was blasting and everyone seemed more drunk, some offered you the red cup and groaned when you rejected them. You came to support your husband, watching the starting line the same way you've watched in every race.
The people already knew you two were married, I mean who wouldn't when he stares at you at every chance he gets.
He nodded to his partner and walked up to you smiling "Car's ready" he smiled
"Do good baby..." You smiled looking at him with your bunny smile
"I'll see you after the race" Enjin said, kissing you, holding your waist and bringing you closer to you as you wrapped your hands around his neck. He whimpered and went after you when you pulled away
"You need to go baby" You giggles as he kissed your neck
"Do I? Can't I stay with my wife..." Enjin says pulling away
"No...you can't," You said as Enjin kissed your knuckles, pulling away as his partner dragged him to his car.
"Are we ready!" the announcer says as everyone cheered "You know the deal! Three laps and you get $4000!!!"
He then introduced each participants, 5 including Enjin, with them responding with a car growl, smoke leaving their back tires
"On your mark..."
You see Enjin gripping the wheel
"Get set...."
You take a breath fidgeting with his jacket
"Go!"
And they were off.
The track was a stretch of an industrial road outside the city, lined with people by the sides who were cheering as the cars passed them with speed.
The first lap was amazing, Enjin zoomed past his competitors with ease. The second? not so much. James, the new driver, had gained up to Enjin. Before the race he had bragged about getting a nice car and how she was going to carry him through the race, you didn't believe him then, but now you were starting to doubt yourself.
By the third lap, James and Enjin were fighting for 1st, oftentimes pressing on the gas and drifting in ways you didn't know could happen.
Half a second
It took a half a second for James to beat him, and Enjin came in 2nd.
Time stopped for you and everyone Enjin knew. Your husband who was the best had just got beaten by a newbie
You moved through the crowd before Enjin got out of his car. You knew he was upset by his expression. After every race he would swallow his nervousness, this time he didn't
"Enjin" You said looking at him, his jaw set on James who was bragging to his boys that made them laugh. You held his face but his eyes were glaring at James
"Can't believe that you beat him!" James' friend screamed patting his back
"Just luck Mat...just luck" James replied
"Luck? Man that was half a second! Maybe you could steal his girl if you last more than him in bed" Mat said
Everyone looked at him, some gasping and some shaking their heads
"What the fuck did you say?" Enjin said turning around
"It- It was just a joke-"
You try to pull away Enjin, but your weight meant nothing to him because all he did was pull you along.
"Say it again"
"I-"
"I fucking dare you to say it again" Enjin said glaring at him
"It was a joke man!"
"A joke? Making sexual statements about my wife is a joke? Just because your friend won doesn't give you the audacity to make a joke about my wife"
Mat looked at James, begging him to jump in but James shook his head "You took it too far man"
Mat, still being stupid and proud just rolls his eyes "So what! She's hot and all I said was-"
Enjin didn't even let him finish his statement when he grabbed his collar "If you say anything about her...hell if you look at her, I will kill you" He snarled before pushing him on the ground and walking away as you walked along with him
"And the next time anyone speaks ill of my wife, you're banned...Y/N let's go" Enjin said grabbing your hand
You two soon get close to his car, letting go of your hand before he ran both hands through his his hair multiple times
"Enjin...." you whispered looking at him. His jaw was still tight and his nostrils flared.
"Sorry...I need to just calm down..." He says opening the door for you, closing the door gently before walking around soon entering his side and slamming his side
He didn't talk for the first 10 minutes and you let him have it. You put on the radio and looked out the window, watching the city lights as you hummed, not minding how your phone was buzzing
You didn't push, he was upset, he needed space
"I'm sorry"
You looked at him “Huh?’
“I’m sorry”
You smile, holding his hand "It's okay...I'm happy you stood up for me"
"No...I snapped and that was wrong of me....and I'm sorry"
"Enjin..."
"I looked at your face...you were scared...or seemed like it" Enjin said
"I wasn't scared...I would never be scared of you"
"Really?"
'Yeah...to be honest...it was quite hot" You giggle
Enjin looked at you in awe. "You watched your husband yell and grab a guy's collar...and you thought it looked....hot?"
You nod and giggle as Enjin kisses your knuckles
Enjin lets go of your hand ans starts the car, one hand on your thigh and the other on the wheel
You scroll through your phone, looking through your texts "They said it was awkward after we left"
"Good...I'll talk to the event manager...the next time I see him, there's gonna be problems"
Oh well...
