CrissColfer AU Fan Fiction: Lucky Encounters- Part 1 (prompt by crisscolferstan)
I've decided to make it a WIP, it was too long to make it a one shot. I hope you like it! :D
"Jessica Grabin!"
Chris was nervously pacing back and forth as more and more people were called in for their audition. He knew all of his lines, he knew all the lyrics of his song, but why did he keep reaching for his neck? (A nervous habit of his) He was just reaching for his iPod to listen to "Mr. Cellophane" again when he heard a familiar tune being strummed on a guitar. He picked up his bag and started walking toward the sound. Quietly, he started singing the song to himself.
"I think I'm falling in love, falling in love....with Hermione Granger..."
He also knew that voice. That voice that had sung the familiar songs and had said the familiar lines over and over again, every time he decided to relive the experience of going back to Hogwarts....
"It's that guy who played Harry from A Very Potter Musical....what was his name...? Uh....it started with a D....Derek...Darren! Darren, uh...Criss!" Chris thought to himself as he kept on walking toward the infectious tune.
He turned the corner and spotted where the noise was coming from. Sitting beneath two large windows was a man with unruly curls. He was surround by just one bag that said "Freelance Whales" and an open guitar case. The man himself was holding the guitar and strumming the song while singing out "Granger Danger". He was wearing a simple white shirt and had pink ray bands hanging out of his pocket. Nothing special about him, but he seemed so...inviting. Like his presence in the room lifted away all of Chris stress about his audition.
The ending chords to the song faded out and before he knew what he was doing Chris strode over there.
"Hi!" he said cheerily.
"Hey! I'm Darren!" He stretched his arm up and shook Chris' hand. He had the nicest smile ever and warm hazel eyes.
"Chris. Um...I was just wondering....you played Harry Potter, right? In A Very Potter Musical? Because you were just singing 'Granger Danger' and you look exactly like him, unless it's just a coincidence that your names are the same-" Darrens eyes light up, his smile grew impossibly wider, and he interrupted before he could finish his sentence.
"YES! I mean, uh, yes! I'm Darren Criss! I don't meet many other actors who have seen my work. I mean, I meet people who have seen them, but I've never met an actor who has watched them and recognizes me. What did you think of the shows? Me and the other guys love hearing feedback, not that I'm pressuring you to..." Darren chuckled, hung his head, and held up one finger,"you know what, never mind."
"No! No, I like all of your musicals! I've watched them all at least four times! Wow, that sounded much less stalker-ish in my head...." Chris trailed off, blushing.
"Really? Dude, that's so fucking cool!" Darren was grinning like a little kid who had just been given candy. Chris noticed how good looking he is. His smile was crooked yet somehow breath taking, and his eyes still smiled even when he wasn't actually smiling. Something about him just made Chris want to talk to him for how many hours it was until one of them went in for their audition.
And that's exactly what they did.
-
"No, you are totally McGonagall! It's perfect!" Darren said between laughs. They were both gasping for air and clutching their sides.
"Yeah, but what about-"
"Chris Colfer!"
They both stopped laughing abruptly. Darren's face fell for the first time since they met. Chris stood up.
"I...I guess I have to go..." he said while looking down at his feet and sticking his hands in his pockets. Inside one was a single pen. Chris suddenly had an idea.
"Darren, this might seem weird, but can you sign my arm?" he rushed out. Darren looked up with a surprised look before smiling widely.
"Sure!" He made grabby hands and Chris helped him up. Darren quickly signed his name. Chris thanked him and waved goodbye, walking towards the audition room as Darren yelled a good luck at him before sitting down and strumming the opening chords to 'Not Alone'.
Chris looked down at the writing on his hand.
It had the usual signature, but it also said:
"It was great meeting you! I'll make sure I don't take up all the space on your arm. Hope to see you some time!"
The part that really surprised Chris was that there was a cell phone number on his arm, too.
