Do you have a character I could draw with my redesign/reclamation of Norma? We both like care bears so I wanted to draw our ocs in care bear inspired outfits..

I DO!! Welcome my blog mascot
(her hair can be colored in detail like in the second or less like in the first!!)
This is Joy, she's the new mascot of my blog!! Ermm some things about her below the cut bc flip yes
★ She left home shortly after learning about the incestual abuse happening. She now lives with her grandmas, who have dedicated themselves to saving other children in abusive homes!! They both have retired from their old jobs long ago, but they work from home to get kids out of situations like Joy's. She's like a daughter to them!
★ They are nonbinary and go by She/They/It! They're also biromantic and asexual, and are 15 years old (same as me!)
★ Shortly after leaving Joy dyed its hair to different colors to differentiate from her family. The darker colors in her hair are from where it has faded over time.
★ She really likes creepypasta, like an insane amount. Its favorite thing to do after school is get online and read or write creepypasta stories.
★ Joy stayed in touch with some of her family after leaving to live with her grandmas. They still talk with Ally, Frosty, and Cream! Frosty and Cream also ran off to live somewhere else, where they've gotten therapy and realized the behavior their family was normalizing in them was unhealthy. Ally lives with Howie in their apartment, while Cream and Frosty live with Howie's brother, Hugh!
★ It has pica and dermatillomania, which is why she wears long sleeves. They chew on their fingers and claws a lot, so sweaters and arm warmers are used to hide the scars. Her favorite things to gnaw on are scented chewy necklaces and colorful pens!
Genuine question, if you got hold of the main comic what would you do with cuddles?
-🐀🇺🇸
Oh you have NO idea anon
I'd go with something called the "sympathy for the devil" trope. Cuddles is a very good example of a comedically evil villain, and those are great! The issue is he doesn't really fit in a story meant to hold important themes such as the effects of abuse and mental illness (what it was SUPPOSED to hold, at least)
When creating a multi-layered villain, the most important part in my opinion is to give them roots. In order to make Cuddles fit into the story, he'll need a backstory like the others. Not just "he killed this guy and somehow got the entire hospital", I mean an actual backstory. Going back to the sympathy for the devil trope, I'd want to give him just the right amount of traumatic events in his childhood/background. People aren't just born evil, and him having something bad happen to him in his life would give another theme to the story; the cycle of abuse. His backstory would be nowhere NEAR enough to excuse his actions, but that's the point. You're supposed to feel bad for feeling bad for him.
And if you want the villain to be good as a character, you can't give them only negative traits. Especially someone like Cuddles, who is meant to seem appealing to others; his design and half of his traits don't match up with that. Nobody is going to see a man missing his eyes, yellow teeth, and who barely showers and think "yeah I trust this guy! He's cute!" He'll need bad traits obviously, he's a villain, but not so many that he has ZERO positive traits. I think he would take good care of his hygiene purely for the reason of looking trustworthy and handsome when in the public eye. He overall would be much more kept than how he looks in the comic. He would need little personality quirks, little things that readers would notice he does after reading for long enough. It's important to show that the villain isn't some sort of completely separate entity; they are just like the main characters.
And lastly, MAKE HIM QUEER!! I hate the message of "cishets are evil and gays are pure babies". Yeah yeah there's other cis / straight characters, but none of them are main characters. Most of them are from damn aus or background characters never spoken of. Cuddles can still be misogynistic while not being straight ("what, you didn't think gay guys could be misogynistic? We don't like girls honey, that's kind of our whole thing" /ref). As much as I love headcanoning him as trans I think he would be a cis guy in canon, but he'd still have body dysphoria unrelated to gender.
Sorry I rambled a lot. I'm really dedicated to villain writing if you couldn't already see
