in an arc full of incredible moments Percy's "as long as Whitestone lives" speech might have been the most incredible of all, and i can not believe it happened in the same episode where he took a kettle full of sodium and exploded himself

the thing about Percy is that he’s like if you took that one meme joke that’s like “what if you were in a fantasy setting and then some guy just pulled out a gun” and then played it for dead-serious tragedy
if you had told me that these two characters had something in common, i would have never, in a million, billion years, been able to guess what it was
this is Keyleth and Percy coded. do you understand what i mean
K-Keyleth coded…
i keep thinking "maybe i should watch TLOVM" and then i'll see a screenshot of Percy and just sigh
i’ve been doing my very best to not indulge in Ship Spoilers but i’m only human, so i absolutely did know about the famous cute moment where Percy makes exploding arrows for Vex and she kisses him, what i DIDN’T know was that one of those same exploding arrows (the one with the star!!) ended up literally blowing up in her face when she tried to use it and delivering her a hefty amount of damage (which would have been even more catastrophically massive if not for a lucky dexterity saving throw, iirc Vex’s max health at this point was 72)
it’s just yet one of many random acts of chance that happen in tabletop games, but it is bitterly funny to imagine it from Percy’s point of view… trying to do something nice for someone, only to end up hurting them. it’s already apparent (for me, post Briarwood arc) how bad his opinion is of himself, so it probably isn’t doing him any favors to feel like he’s a danger to people he cares about
okay i'm finally getting into the weeds. can i just say: this was nuts
