my wish for Chapter 5 is that the continuation of the weird route maybe finally gets people to think twice before trying to meme-ify the scene that is very clearly supposed to be invoking an assault
kind of crazy that some call this “censoring” or “softening” the scene when the imagery here is a thousand times more brutal than the dying rose

"Weird route but Noelle and Spamton just get the player for doing that to her" He literally gives you an item so you can do that to her harder
总之是放飞自我的一张(我不知道怎么翻译(
highly recommend everyone watches Leviticus:)
(Deltarune theory hound voice) The Weird Route is clearly invoking an abusive relationship, and one of the most striking, brutal images to come out of it is the scene where a player-controlled Kris physically forces the ThornRing on Noelle's finger while she's frozen in horror. The ThornRing, as we all know, is an item that mysteriously appeared in Kris's inventory one day and was given to them by no one
you'll be like "don't you think it's significant that Spamton, the guy who starts a fight with Kris (while they're alone in a dark alley) that can only be concluded by saying 'yes' to the choice he gives you (if you say 'no' he just says 'wrong' until you say 'yes), has a massive role in the route about taking away a young girl's ability to say no? don't you think that the fact that there's a guy who gives you a literal wedding ring to help control that young girl and then later makes suggestive comments about her and the nature of the relationship between her and Kris (or, perhaps, her and you) might be relevant to the themes of this route?" and then the same people who have spent the last year analyzing the BPM of Deltarune songs and 100 year old paintings looking for ship crumbs will be like "um, no, that doesn't sound relevant at all, and actually it's pretty queerphobic that you said that"

Literally ANYTHING but admit “yeah the way he talked about her was creepy”
Since we’re bringing up the Japanese version: Spamton calls Noelle “ojou-chan” which is literally like “a wealthy young lady” but is also most usually used to politely address an unfamiliar woman or girl who is younger than you, BUT, crucially, depending on context (which a Japanese player would likely pick up on considering how context-dependent Japanese is) it can also be used in a condescending or intimidating way, especially when coming from someone who isn’t otherwise acting in a polite or respectful manner (like, I don’t know, Spamton NEO), especially when using the more cutesy and diminutive “chan” instead of the more formal “san,” think an antagonistic tough guy addressing a woman as “little lady” or something.
More importantly, if you’re going to bring up the Japanese version, then you’re going to bring up how the innuendo in Spamton’s choice of words was also replicated in the Japanese version, right?
You’re going to bring up how the fact that Spamton was making suggestive remarks about Kris and Noelle’s relationship was apparently important enough for Toby to make sure it carried over to the Japanese version, right???
