After a few days of listening, some thoughts about Dedicated
- Opening with Julien gives her fans a taste of the disco influence she teased us with like three years ago... but it only seems to make a couple shy appearances throughout the rest of the album. Queen of Deception
- No Drug Like Me seems like an odd choice for track 2. But I’m still here for this song. That chorus! Queen of odd tracklist choices.
- Want You In My Room is like When I Needed You part 2. And that fade out during the Saxophone solo. Queen of Outros.
- If any song on this album passes the car test (instinctively makes you crank the volume in the car) it’s Happy Not Knowing. I haven’t seen enough love for this song so far. It also has the best lyric on the album: “Please don’t stir it up, I’m sure it’s nothing but some heartburn baby” Queen of Prescribing Antacids.
- I don’t know why, but I get total 70s pop vibes from I’ll Be Your Girl. Ive heard No Doubt comparisons but I don’t really hear that. Queen of misinterpreted reference material.
- There are so many times on this album that she pulls out vocals I haven’t heard since Tug of War. I swear you could pull the line “Fools gold landed on my shoulder” right from that album. In fact, The Sound is basically like taking TOW and throwing it in a blender with E•mo•tion and coming out with audible gold. Queen of throwing back to herself. - Automatically In Love. It just deserves a mention. Same with Right Words, Wrong Time. Queen of can’t put it into words. - What is there to say about Real Love that Louise Belcher can’t say for me? Queen of Cult Favourite Pop.
