Crochet Basics: Seaming and Surface Crochet
Check out these videos to explore a few examples of methods of attaching separate crocheted parts together and how to further embellish your crocheted surface with surface crochet still using your crochet hook. (You can also try stitching directly into your crocheted surface with a tapestry needle.)
Use your own crochet samples to build your crochet skill set and practice different strategies of seaming and surface embellishment.
For your crochet samples, please post images of your best examples of the following crochet techniques onto your tumblr:
crocheting in a rectangle
circular crochet
demonstrate the various crochet stitches you have learned (everyone is only required to learn single crochet, but if you want credit for other stitches you have learned, please show me what you know!)
show what you understand about increasing and decreasing
crochet seaming
surface crochet
crochet samples should be posted to your blog and will be graded as part of the first blog check deadline, due on October 18th. Crochet samples can be a singular form encapsulating all above techniques or smaller groups of techniques in a sample or even individual samples for each individual techniques. Whatever makes sense to you.
