The walk to Benji’s was long and humid. Purposely long. Gunner had a bit of a hard time processing what his friend, someone he considered a best friend, had done in terms of the Watershed app. But he wanted to keep an open mind - and he wanted a few answers himself. Not to mention that he did owe Benji now, spending the last while more worried for Benji than anything else after his arrest. Knocking on the other’s bedroom door, Gunner let out a soft, “Coming in whether you’re decent or not,” before flashing Benji an admittedly bashful grin, “Your grandma let me in. I like her more than you,” his attempts at a joke were somewhat pathetic, considering that his voice trembled slightly as he spoke. Gunner wasn’t a hugger, but he wanted to pull Benji into the tightest hug possible in that moment. Instead, he shucked off his backpack, pulling out a large pack of Twizzlers from inside, “Brought some snacks. Comfort food and shit. How... how are you?” @benjigates

TASK 002 - triggers for anxiety, kidnapping/disappearance, murder mention and a large scale fire below

IN GENERAL: Gunner set a long time friend’s house on fire the last day of Summer before moving from Wyoming to New York.

IN DETAIL: A long time family friend of their parents had a few kids, two of which were Gunner and Wyatt (the youngest, missing Paxton brother’s) age, named Sarah and Jayden. They all grew up together and were quite close up until Wyatt’s disappearance, when the family began to distance themselves. Most families did this anyway, already viewing the Paxton’s as an odd family, but many people believed the boys or parents had to do something with Wyatt’s disappearance and were uncomfortable associating themselves. By the end of junior year of high school, Gunner and Sarah rekindled. She made him feel comfortable and safe, and she quickly became his confidant when he needed it most due to Elias leaving to start school at Lockwood, releasing all his deepest fears and what not to her. About halfway through senior year, they began to date, but it never became anything serious as per Sarah’s request. She would always come up with excuses, many having to do with the fear of them losing interest in University, so Gunner took what he could with her. On the last day of high school, when all the senior’s were supposed to be celebrating, Gunner’s day went a bit different. After Wyatt’s disappearance, Jayden had never been the same, a socially anxious kid to this day who never learned how to properly make friends, the Paxton’s a happy accident due to friendly obligation. Believing Gunner and Elias had something to do with Wyatt’s disappearance, Sarah decided a slow burn of humiliation was due for her brother’s sake. Littering the school hallways were pictures of what remained of the Paxton boys, words like ‘MURDERERS’ and ‘KILLERS’ written above said pictures and stories of the night Wyatt actually vanished and the nightmares Gunner had had the following nights attached to every locker. It was the perfect attack, since Sarah’s father was the principal and it was the last day of school it was easy for her to receive little to no punishment. Horrified and embarrassed, Gunner found himself spending the entirety of his last Summer in Wyoming inside, hiding from the looks he was sure he’d get anywhere he went. If she’d been smart, Sarah wouldn’t have told him that she was leaving on vacation with her family for a celebration of the last week of Summer, a detail she’d shared excitedly several times. A farm like ranch surrounded by acres and acres of land her family owned, it was hard to believe anything as bad as their entire home catching fire was plausible, but evidence pointed to a gas leak. Gunner made it clear that he had no idea about the accident, but by the time it became public knowledge, he’d conveniently already packed his things and had left for New York.

DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW THIS SECRET?: He drunkenly dropped the bomb to Elias a few months ago, but played it off as a joke the next day. To his face, Elias said he believed him, but whether his older brother actually thinks Gunner is innocent or not is still unknown.
