AU where humans have pokémon and they are assigned to starships along with the rest of the crew for assistance. 

• Pokémon also go through starfleet but have a different special pokemon training. 

• Not everyone on the crew gets to have a pokémon though. Theres limited space (and resources) so theyre usually only registered with the department heads.

• Crewmembers often have fond memories of their pokémon friends back home though.

• Not every pokémon even gets to be assigned to starships. Some are too big.

• Chansey still get assigned to medical

• Lucario and other such fighting pokémon are assigned to security

• Rotom or Magnemite are assigned to engineering

• Various plant pokémon are usually kept in the arbetoreum to assist with botanical research

• Alakazam pair well with Vulcans and are often assigned to work alongside them.

• Its recommended to keep pokémon like espurr and psyduck away from psychic species

• Ferengi are fond of Meowth

• Andorians enjoy how ice pokémon provide a pleasant cooling effect

• Its a tradition for Starship captains (particularly on the enterprise) to be given eevees which they then evolve to match their captaining style. 

• Starship gyms can also be used for pokémon battles

• Arceus is still the god and creator of everything

• Instead of the probe needing to talk with humpback whales, it needed to talk with wailords

• The Federation (human) journey to befriend every species in the galaxy goes alot smoother because everyone is terrified of them and their scary powerful pets

I find it extremely funny that hybrid species are like, a bigger plot point in Star Trek than in Star Wars. In Star Wars its like: We have conquered and explored the entire (and I do mean the entire) galaxy for thousands if not millions of years. The galaxys species are so intertwined there are many aliens who dont even know their (or have a) homeworld. But hybrid species arent like super common and most everyone sticks to their own species. And in Star Trek its like: Hi, we've only known you guys for about 100 years but do you want to make some hybrid babies together? Far in the future in like 1000 years, galactic species (still their tiny corner of the alpha quadrant, not even the whole galaxy) will be so intertwined that there will be hybrid-hybrid species that are a large mishmash of a bunch of different species.

To be clear, this isnt about horniness. Star Wars is just as horny for aliens. Except no actually. I mean they are, but that too isnt a major or minor theme and rarely gets touched on. Only really in Legends. If you have any rebuttal to that, exclude all Twi'leks before you make it.

I know theres a whole Doylist explanation behind the difference in tone and messaging of the franchises, it just seems hilarious in universe. The shows about humans making their way out into unfamiliar space and meeting new peoples has more alien romances and hybrid children than the one about humans exploring a familiar space and meeting people everyones already known about. Imagine we get a Star Wars show about exploring wild space and they also get the plethora of alien romances cause the Unknown is sexier than the Known.
