The hatred he felt for his foster family is what droves him to run away. The way they wouldn't feed him or bother giving him a proper room with a closet or bed. The way they would yell at him and call him names. The verbal abuse has taken a tool on his mind, words running through his head over and over again. Failure. Pathetic. Disgusting. Those were only a few of many. Anything he did was done wrong.

The backpack slung over his shoulder holds the very few outfits he owns. It's only a few more months till his eighteenth birthday, but he couldn't wait to run any longer. Not after the last test he got back that wasn't good enough for the foster family. The words still ring in his head as he trudges down the street. He couldn't have lasted for another five months. There was no fucking way it was going to work that way.

He had intended on taking a bus to take him as far away as possible, but his feet work just fine and he needs to save as much money as possible. He barely has a penny to him name and has only been able to save up a few hundred from this trip. That's why he starts down the highway, hand held out and thumb up. That is what you do when you want to hitch hike right? He assumes he's strong enough to take care of himself (He did do kendo for years) so he is going to give it a try. It's a way to save money. What could really go wrong?
