DREAM/// Speaker: NENIU - Significance: ACUTE - [“It can get boring. Sometimes all I do is watch figments crawl by until I wake up. But this time I was interrupted by what sounded like the rustling of leaves. I turned and saw a Toa of Destiny. He said something about ‘becoming lost in the jungles of the unconscious’. I think he was warning me. Seemed urgent, but I was distracted by the light reflecting off his spear.

I heard the sound of wood being sliced and spotted the Error Fanatic. I could hear his claws tapping the ground, eager for carnage. I actually remember what he said;

‘You were prey for my benevolence. But now you’re just prey.’

I felt leaves brushing against my face as I reached out and grabbed the shine from his blade. I held onto the light, but a shadow was already in my hands.

Finally I heard what sounded like the revving of a jungle beast above me. A darkness was cast that collects the shadow out of my hand, absorbing it like water droplets colliding. I’m reminded of the Kestora. As if responding to my thoughts, the revving becomes a voice.

‘No. Something much worse.’ 

Then a bug bit me. In real life. Turned out I was sleepwalking through the Artificial Jungle. Nearly went all the way through it and into the Kestora Labs. Very glad for the wakeup call. And it wasn’t even venomous!”] - - -

RECORD/// Speaker: “CROSSWIRES” / Subject: MOTIVES - [“They fall to pieces. Arrive in pieces. I reassemble them. Sometimes I separate them further and add elements to make my own creations. Exploring secondary conclusions and working hard are part of my directives, but many units that witness this behavior say ‘wrong’ and ‘evil’. I often hear such sounds.

More sounds directed at me: ‘Makuta’, ‘Spawn of Makuta’, ‘Scar-Maker’, ‘Not this guy again’, ‘Errorchaser’, ‘Bug-Hunter’, ‘Irnakk’, ‘Crosswires’. Many voices at many volumes have tried to define me with these noises when they meet me. I don’t yet know why.

I remember my first meeting. I remember my first meeting. I activate suddenly and all is darkness. I am overwhelmed by it because I can’t define it. My mind is filled and I gain the ability to shape information into data. My optical systems activate and I see me before me. I watch myself assemble and soon I am able to predict where the pieces will go. I am finished and I understand my directives; I want it all to be as meaningful as me. It has to make sense.
