U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Lauri Kindness wears a headdress as she leads the Crow Fair Color Guard. In the Crow Culture, Kindness said, women earn the right to wear headdresses through military service, just as men do. Kindness, a paratrooper, served 13 years in the U.S. Army and completed 5 tours of duty. She is currently serving her fifth year in the U.S. Army Reserve.

I want to get this off my chest. I had this old dude say gay marriage is wrong because it intrudes on the family, and the (nuclear) family is a universal institution that has always existed.

I must say my urge is to say "that's bullshit. If it was, I wouldn't be here." I have some distance crow Indian ancestry. My ancestors didn't have fathers, they were provided for by their uncles. It's a common cultural set up in south east Asia and certain American Indian cultures.
