Their very last attempt for this time. Blue just warms the egg with his body heat and a blanket.
Somebody please take the egg away before orange superglues himself to it./j
The egg rocks slightly into the warm blanket, the spine sticking to the fabric and catching on it as it shifts. A low rumbling sound curls from inside the egg, along with a heavy scraping sound. One of the plates across its surface bulges outward slightly, giving way to the hatchling inside.
With one plate coming loose, a set of large claws presses through the small hole, and then pulls, further breaking more away. The hatchling uncurls once it has clawed enough space.
The hatchlign is heavy and warm as it falls free of the egg, limbs thumping as they fall. It rolls over, and looks up at you.
The hatchling has imprinted on you.

What a beautiful girl! Hefty for a hatchling - I can only imagine what she'll look like when she's grown!
