You Can Only Trust So Much
She’d only hung around in the bar for a couple of drinks-- but mostly, she’d stayed to listen to the music. Time and time again, one guy after the next tried to chat her up, but she’d done her best to ignore them. Drunk, burly guys weren’t exactly the types of people she was looking to hang around with, despite her choice of venue.
Two drinks over the course of a couple of hours later, Jan was ready to head home- which, of course, involved walking. In the dark. By herself. She couldn’t have chosen a worse situation to get herself into, unless she wound up being followed.
Never in her life had she been followed by men such as the one she’d just encountered- obviously drunk, tall, hair greasy as all stood out - and honestly, it wasn’t as if she’d ever wanted to go through the scenario, either. She saw the sneer on his face after glancing over one shoulder, and some part of her thought maybe ducking into one alleyway would get him off of her tail. But he only followed, making some comment about how ‘she’d only backed herself into a corner’.
“Fuck OFF, I’m just trying to get home.”
Yes Jan, clearly he’s the type to listen to that sort of sentence.
