Something fun Moss helped me figure out about Tamì'tey is their nickname Tamì and how it sounds.
"Tammy" was a nickname Mercer had given them, he had nicknames for all the children. Teylan was Taylor, Ri'nela was Nellie, Nor was Norman, and so on.
It's a nickname they loathe.
Tamì looks like it's pronouced Tammy, but it's actually pronouced very similarly to "Tommy", a slight difference- but a difference significant enough to Tamì they feel some gender euphoria hearing it.
It's a bit of whiplash for Jake though when they hear someone calling for "Tommy!" At a moot, thinking he's been mistaken for his brother for a split second. How long has it been since he's been mistaken for his brother?
When he looks though, it's not Tommy at all. It's the Sarentu bounding up to their friends. Sharing his brother's nickname.
So we know from your fuck what wukula did with the bond so what would have happened if so’lek came to rescue Tam while that was actively happening?
ANON MY WHA-
I love autocorrect so much lmao this tells me you say fuck about as much as I do.
Much love anon I'm gonna chuck the rest under a readmore uhh cw for implied sa, torture, forced Tsaheylu, etc
And mild spoilers for "Not You Too" bc I will be elaborating on these ideas in chapter 4.
Ohh man, yea Tamì'tey really went through the meatgrinder with Wukula. The bond being used as a method of both torture, invasion, and information extraction atop of everything else going on.
Depending on if Bukowski was present or not changes the context a little, Wukula didn't SA Tamì while Bukowski was around. Forced Tsaheylu was always part of it however. Reports to Bukowski were just that Wukula did some independent interrogation.
The soldiers monitoring the situation didn't report it because they were "getting revenge" for some of their buddies that Tamì and So'lek have killed. So this goes on for a while, unfortunately.
So IN an alternate timeline where So'lek did find Tamì before Bukowski moved them, I think it would be unfortunately while Bukowski was off base. So the reaction would be a lot more... Volatile. I think it had been a stealth mission intially but that goes to shit when that's the scene he stumbles upon. Poor guy probably saw it happening from the vents too and jumped onto Wukula's back, yanking him back with his weight, his knife to his throat. Everything happens so fast but he at least makes sure the bond was broken before he plunged that knife into Wukula's throat.
So'lek and Tamì would barely have time to process eachother before the alarm starts blaring. Shotgun in one hand he uses the other to just help get Tamì'tey's gear and help them put it back on.
Tamì's a mess but also just. In Shock. They keep apologizing which just pains him to hear.
A big Thing with these two in particular is that So'lek hasn't really used Tamì'tey's name since the Great Games. For Reasons. We will get to soon. listen these two are idiots, they're in love but they're idiots. So'lek is emotionally constipated, and thinks Tamì deserves someone with better memories than him- and Tamì thinks they're incapable of having anything real because they have also have Awful memories and who the hell would want to be "burdened" with memories of grey walls, being a toy for humans, and shit like that? They have NO idea how much they relate to eachother in that sentiment because they wont talk about it!! They're terrified of losing eachother and think distance is the best way to protect the other!
RAMBLE aside I think he gets Tamì to briefly snap out of their spiral before the soliders come, gently holding their face.
"Tamì'tey, listen to me. I will get you out of here, we will get out of here. And when we do, we can face whatever happened together then. But I need you with me now." As he hands them his shotgun (they tend to favor that over the assault rifle anyways) while he arms himself with his assault rifle.
I could kick around the idea and add more for pacing n shit but roughly thats what would happen I think lol thank you for coming to my TEDtalk
