The Gate Between Worlds [Atterria | Gilgamesh]
The Outrealms where prohibited to anyone except specified individuals, more specifically, Chrom’s private and personal guard known as the Shepherds of Ylisse. Atterria, their lead tactician, had clearance to venture into the outer gates even though she technically wasn’t allowed to unless under specific orders by Chrom. Nevertheless, in an attempt to acquire further knowledge and conduct research, she left the Ylissean castle under the guise that she was actually going on a much needed vacation. None of her friends and colleges suspected her or could even think to imagine her true intent.
On the first day of her ‘vacation,’ Atterria and two knights she had grown to know personally, ventured towards the gate on the outskirts of the halidom. With the recent victory over the desert kingdom of Plegia, Ylisse was more focused on recovering and rebuilding than they were in keeping guard of a mysterious gate. Of course she had been advised against venturing into the gate alone; there was no telling where the gate might land you. However, this was not enough to scare her; after all, war had done a magnificent job of vanquishing most of her petty fears. Besides, it wasn’t as if she was going unprepared or unarmed; she had studied every possible theory she could find, and ran numerous calculations various times. If things got too hectic, she had her sword and a Thoron [Powerful Thunder Magic Book] with her, so she was confident she’d be alright.
The knights that had escorted her stood nervously a few feet away, looking at one another and then at her. It was her command that they stay behind and wait until her return, in all honesty, Atterria had no intention of staying longer than the week she had received off. The jewel that Tharja had gave her [a dark mage] would notify her when it was time to return, so she honestly had nothing to worry about. With a final wave and a note of reassurance, she stepped into the spell circle and instantly found herself transported into a new location.
At first it looked no different than the world she had come from, but a bit of walking; she came across what looked like a kingdom. The architecture was different but nothing struck her as odd or truly foreign. As her eyes surveyed the new demographic, the tealette pulled her hood over her hair in an attempt to hide from any suspicious eyes. In this world, it was nighttime and with the low elimination, she was unlikely to stand out too much even if her wardrobe was foreign.
“Now… where should I begin?” she questioned herself, “hmmm…” Her eyes spotted a large building off in the distance, “a palace?” That seemed like a good place to go, it wasn’t as if she was just going to march right in there, after all, she was only here to observe and fully planned on remaining in the shadows during her stay. “Heh… how thrilling.”
