i know inej says there's the rumor wylan slept with his tutor that doesn't really add up. and people have their own headcanons and theories about that.

but really i think that's just what van eck told (or a tutor told) to explain the firing of wylan's teachers when they couldn't make him read. his staff was known to be very tight-lipped and well paid, so i don't think a rumor like this would have come organically from an encounter with a tutor. it would've been orchestrated to explain a very externally visible problem in the house—like a recent dismissal

then again, there's that scene in the library in crooked kingdom where wylan knows the secret passage because of his meetings with his tutor, so idk make of it what you will

i find it so weird that so many people assume wylan would be an atheist because he's a scientist. there are plenty of reasons to assume he doesn't believe in the kerch religion, but being knowledgeable in science is... not one of them.

it's a very weird stance and frankly displays a lot of real world bias and bigotry.

but especially since nothing in the limited ghezen theology we do have is anti-science. if anything, ghezen supports scientific advancement in industry, often to the detriment of the created/creation.

i feel like we often take inspo from the roman catholics for ghezen, but really ghezen feels soo calvinist to me

especially with the calvinist influence on capitalism
