So i finally caught up with whitepine and this damned staircase is not letting me go

It's just "in this place, death is always around the corner" isn't it? And it's always accompanied by some sort of tragedy (in order: funeral, assault & either general mansion vibe or foreshadowing). Only now, pictures side by side, i see that as episodes progress, the perspective rotates: the skull is moving into the shadow, until it will completely hidden by looking straight on
Also i love transition from episode 9 to 10

Here even the clothes and shadows feel deliberate, but kind of opposite of what i'd expect? Classic light-good/dark-evil is flipped, the detective is NOT a good guy, and Pyro is not evil, even if zombies business and, by extension, the mansion itself are build on blood

INCREDIBLE sharp eye there! I seriously need to refresh my mind on whitepine but these observations are SO AWESOME - an interpretation of the light/shadow shot with Pyro and the Detective that I would gravitate towards to would be their opposing states of being tbh like
Pyro is in so much inner turmoil, rage, grief, old wounds reopened all because of the person standing on the other side of the door. Maybe the stark white side of the Detective represents his naivety or perhaps the hope of forgiveness? Linking back into the good/evil thing I think the whiteness could also represent his "coming clean"? But there's also the intentional contrast right there in front of him. The detective gets off with a slap on the wrist in comparison to what the household dealt with so the light/dark is essentially two different worlds, two different lives impacted to some varying extent by the same event.
