Libre Fuego, which means "free fire" in Spanish, was formed in late 2007 by three friends working in Croydon library: Marco Valencia (pan-pipes, guitar, charango, tres cubana, vocals), Nick Bush (guitars, vocals), and former Eastbourne resident, Paul Mills (bass). The band are inspired and influenced by various genres of music ranging from jazz, folk, blues and rock to Cuban, Chilean and other Latino rhythms. Their colourful repertoire includes some of their own music and songs, as well as cover versions of some familiar numbers from the pas and the present.

Hail the Sun - the new AKASHA LP
Critically acclaimed but all-to-often overlooked, Akasha are back with their first new long-player since 2003’s transcendent ‘Love Philtre Magick’.
It’s been a decade of occasional gigs and festival performances - but Charlie and Damien have only now found the time to be right to issue a new collection of tunes.
Fans of the band’s earlier work won’t be disappointed (…and a quiet whisper is that there is more to come with some possible remixes by well-known names).
Since the release of ‘Cinematique’ way back in 1998 Akasha have been known by those in the know as some of the best purveyors of psyched-out trip-hop jazz-fusion around. Working with Lemon Jelly, Nena Cherry, Groove Armada and Art of Noise, the core duo of Charlie Casey and Damien Hand have a track-record that proves if you haven’t heard of them you need to put that right.
'Hail the Sun' is hot off the press and not yet available on general release, but once you get your hands on it you'll find it fits neatly into place alongside any contemporary acid-jazz-funk, classic trip-hop or smooth-groove that's already in your collection.
With a title track that evokes a misty sunrise following the best night of your life, the album flows gracefully, playfully and joyfully through musical and lyrical motifs that are at the same time downbeat and heady with uplifting rhythms.
Danceable trance chords echo from every bar, and familiar themes are reworked into the band’s own image.
