it’s the fifth time, the most vehement of them all. the books and supplies that she’s been hoarding for her n.e.w.t.s are all over the ground. she herself is rolling her ankle. the force of knocking into someone has made her feet stumble and now a slight prickle has started in one of her ankles.
“that’s why running in the hall is forbidden.” she first mumbles to herself, before her eyes sweep the items all over the ground. pursing her lips, her gaze moves to the other person and she feels the same, blazing flush begin to crawl up her neck. red, like the color of his tie. they’ve been colliding all over hogwarts for the past week. a door that nearly smacks him on friday. his misplaced foot that almost trips her on sunday. her shoulder knocking into his on a monday morning. and each time she’s had eyes heating the back of her neck; the burning feeling that always comes makes her snap on him.
huffing, devin crosses her arms tightly and, “my name is devin moon. i’m not introducing myself to you though, okay?”
being nice towards others has always come hard to her. there’s always an irrational fear that makes her snatch back kind words before they can linger. expose her true intentions and the bite that always comes with her sweet makes the thumping of her heart feel less suffocating.
she’s pointedly looking away from him. “i’m telling you my name because you’ll need to tell the matron who i am in case you have to take me to the hospital wing. don’t think anything of it, okay?”
