          “ it  sounds  nice, ”  she  begins,  trying  to  even  imagine  what  it’d  be  like  to  see  moods  or  feelings.  jane’s  never  been  very  good  at  being  able  to  tell,  but  she  tries  not  to  let  it  bother  her  too  much,  or  let  it  show.  she  wonders  if  alex  could  see  that  much  on  her,  and  finds  herself  wanting  to  ask  how  it  looked.  but  jane  knows  from  experience  it’s  not  really  something  to  ask.  besides,  she  doesn’t  want  to  ruin  this  confidence  her  friend  has  in  her.  “ sorry,  i  don’t  mean  it  like  that. ”

 okay,  so  this  was  a  bad  idea !   he  pulls  the  phone  back  from  his  ear,  looking  at  it  like  it  would  slap  some  sense  into  the  person  on  the  other  end  of  it.   tapping  the  screen  with  his  right  finger,  he  turns  wes’  voice  on  to  speaker  before  dropping  his  phone  down  next  to  him  on  his  bed.     “   if  you  really  must  know,  i  was  at  home.   ”     he  doesn't  give  him  any  more  than  that,  instead  reaches  for  the  controller  to  his  playstation  and  resumes  his  game  from  where  he'd  been  before  wes  had  broken  his  concentration.     “   you  know,  if  you  really  don't  believe  me  maybe  you  should  call  the  house  line.  i'm  sure  my  mom  would  love  to  tell  you  the  same  thing.   ”
