When God said not to worship graven images He was including the heart of stone entombed in the old man. This stone cold image of a fallen angel whose pride caused him to be doomed to eternal damnation. Today's society is obsessed with self, its desires and aspirations and emotions. To achieve personal fulfillment is the greatest accomplishment of any human according to popular talk shows helmed by famous gurus and "enlightened" sophisticates......but the new creature knows no satisfaction in the vain pursuit of "fulfillment" outside of Jesus Christ. The new creature and his new heart. The stone has been rolled out of the place it once occupied behind the left fourth and fifth rib and now what remains in its place? Emptiness? Hollowness? Not a bit of it! The ribs now shelter a soft and tender heart. A heart in pursuit of something far and away from itself. Rather this tender hearted creature desires to return the affections of One who has set the beat of its own thumping rhythm.
