Crunchy bean snacks may trigger lactose intolerance!
Snack Out Loud Foods are famous for their healthy ‘crunchy beans‘, which provide a relatively tasty alternative to potato chips. Unfortunately, due to a labeling mishap, some of their ranch flavored crunchy beans were labelled as Sea Salt Crunchy Bean Snacks. The ranch seasoning has milk allergens in them, which may trigger a reaction among the lactose intolerant. People who are lactose intolerant are none the wiser because there is no mention of ranch seasoning or other potential milk allergens on the label. The company has voluntarily recalled 56 cases of this product to remedy the situation.
The recalled product clearly says Sea Salt Crunchy Bean Snacks on the label and they come in 1.2 oz. single-serve packages. It has a lot number of 63361, UPC code of 760055900037 and an expiry date of 7/9/16. There have not been any reported illnesses that were caused by the consumption of this product.
Lactose intolerance is a condition displayed by people whose digestive system cannot process lactose, which is a type of sugar that naturally occurs in milk. People suffering from lactose intolerance will display the following symptoms anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours after drinking milk or consuming a milk-based product:
Bloating
Cramps in the lower belly
Rumbling sounds coming from the tummy
Gas
Diarrhea; the stool can at times be foamy
Puking
The symptoms are not fatal, but they can be highly embarrassing, not to mention that they will significantly disrupt the sufferer’s normal routine. If you suffer from lactose intolerance and are displaying any of these symptoms after consuming Sea Salt Crunchy Bean Snacks, then we suggest that you contact your family physician right away!
Snack Out Loud Foods are urging people who purchased Sea Salt Crunchy Bean Snacks with the aforementioned lot code, UPC code and expiry date to return the product at the place of purchase for a full refund. If you have any questions or concerns about the recall, you may contact the company directly at +1 (855) 888-8108 between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM (MST).
