the brisk night time of new zealand offers devin a reprieve. while the summer trip helps her gain distance from her problems, and she’s eternally grateful for the lack of sun exposure she could have experienced elsewhere, that doesn’t mean it is without stress. there’s ever-present roommates and tasks, scheduled days and group tours. devin has never been much of an ‘outdoorsy’ person and is even less of a people person, so this trip pushes limits. many of times it has proven hard for her to find enough solitude to enjoy.

of course, now that she’s actually alone, her first thoughts are of the waiting problems back in england. she can still remember the day she received the letter, moon family crest pressed into wax as a means to seal her fate. she felt the omen as soon as it was in her hands. and the contents of the letter had only reassured her that she was right to feel so.

sighing, devin presses more into her coat, hidden in the shadows of the moonless night as she sits on a bench just near the entrance to the lodging house. it’s just cold enough that she feels the slightest of chill on her finger tips, but the warmth that her jacket offers is a comfort. her cheeks are red, but the mist in her eyes has nothing to do with the weather. 

the door beside her opens suddenly.

when devin turns, she’s relieved to see a familiar face, but winston and her aren’t exactly friendly enough for her to be pleased. there’s too many unresolved feelings on her side and he’s too around for her to actually work through them. best friends with alexander, always with félix. the jealously he had inspired when they first met has cooled as the years passed by and yet...

she’s always retained a polite distance.

as if he can hear her thoughts, he’s abruptly looking her way and devin blinks, startled, and a trail of water slips down her cheek. then, like a crumbling dam, a sob bubbles in her throat with a sudden violence. she chokes it back before it can surface, but by then there's more tears gathering in her eyes so devin turns away, covering her face to hide it all away.

It was late. His mind somewhat hazy as he sat there, sitting comfortably in the big chair. There was a silence in the room, not one of those uncomfortable ones. Winston's mind was probably elsewhere like his own. "I think about her a lot", the words just jumped out of his mouth without him really knowing why. Winston looked like he was not sure who her was. How could he know? There were quite a few ladies coming and going in his life, but this was the one he wished had stayed. "My mom" he added, still sober enough to realize clarifying that was the right thing to do. "Everything would have been different with her" a pause. "If she was there" another pause. "If she was here". He never talked about her, not even to Winston. For some reason this night, the mood, the intoxication, being there with his best friend, it made him honest in a way he had never been, honest about her. "I wonder what it would have been like..." another pause, feelings stirring up inside him, where they showing? "...to have been loved"

🎃  –– What was your first Halloween costume that you can remember? How old were you when you stopped trick or treating?

devin blinks in surprise. “costume? trick or treating? those are typically muggles traditions, right?”

devin has never worn a costume or gone door to door, asking for candy. instead, halloween is one of the few holidays that aligns with devin’s interests.

“i do appreciate the lore and stories that come with halloween. it’s a time where people indulge in horror and frightening films, so, even though it makes it harder to get a seat in a theater, halloween is always enjoyable for me.” the memories of past celebrations brings a soft smile to her face.

EMOJI HEADCANONS: 💍  –– Do you want to get married someday? If you are married, did your wedding go as you imagined it would?

she purses her lips, it was somewhat odd for the to mention about marriage. “well...” she laughs sheepishly, “not really, i don’t really want to get married.” she sighs softly, thinking about her ex, it wasn’t something that was possible for her anymore. however, even though it did slip her mind, a small smile appears as she remembers about her two wifeys. “but you know what-- i am married though.” lianna continues to smile, “i’m married to two of the most beautiful girls in my life! so... yes, i am married and i think i’m okay with just that. i guess announcing that i’m officially married online was probably how i would like my wedding would be like.”

HEADCANON TIME!

εїз : How does your muse feel about bugs and insects?

devin spent a part of her childhood in the country, where bugs are a plenty so, when she was younger, she was fascinated by them. but now, as an adult, devin doesn’t care. she doesn’t flinch, seek them out, or feel any particular way about them. at most, when they’re in the area, she just picks them up and puts them somewhere not as open because people freaking out over them is distracting and unnecessarily loud.

Headcanon Time!

✍ : What is your muse’s handwriting like? Is it neat? Sloppy? Fancy?

As a student he had quite the messy handwriting, the size of the letters woud vary along a sentence, sometimes it would be slanted, sometimes it would be too flat. It was a mess.

It was only after he started working alongside the potioneer that he learned about the importance of a neat handwriting, especially when you’re in charge of taking notes and writing down ingredients and brewing steps for potions, leave a legacy for others to read. Over time he began styling it in an elegant, yet slightly slanted to the right side, sort of handwiritng that also came in handy when he took the job as a professor.
