THERE  IS  SOMETHING  NOT  QUITE  RIGHT    with this world.  at first a  flicker  of  static  &  disquiet          like consciousness fluttering at the outer reaches of a  half-forgotten dream.  but then,  the  unsettling ripple of déjà vu.  the multiverse is a  convoluted anarchy  of  lost worlds  and warped galaxies that can only be glimpsed  through the looking-glass of a black hole.  a moment ago         or was it ?  time moves differently in the  fissures of reality         he’d been hovering beneath a swirling rift in the  space-time continuum  just over the new york city skyline,  nanoseconds before calculating the exact cause  &  origin of the  cosmic anomaly.  and now . . .  now  he’s here.

WHERE  THE  HELL  IS  HERE   ?   or rather:  WHEN  ?    . . .  god,  he hopes it isn’t  when.

until he can find solid proof this place  isn’t  a skrull-infested warzone, he’s working under the  assumption  that even the  masked vigilante  approaching is an  ENEMY.  the familiar thrum of the repulsors being set to  FIRE  sings like an  electric pulse,  a  hit  of pure adrenaline,  the center of his palms blazing blue like the hottest parts of a flame.

  “ canary, “    jane  greeted,   volume a  little  louder  than  her  normal  hushed  tones  so that her  voice  could  reach  her  over the  general  humdrum  of  the meeting-place.     it wasn’t  often  the  doom patrol  and the  justice  league  touched  bases,     but it  was  keeg’s  idea  that  socialization  might  be ideal,  both from a  strategic  point of view  and  from,   well  ...     the  fact that the  team was starting to feel a  little  claustrophobic  in  the  constantly-smiling wonderland  that  was  danny. 

 “ it’s been a while since  we’ve crossed paths.     how are you? “     the older woman asked  once   she’d  sufficiently  approached.    dinah  was one  of the  only leaguers she’d  spoken  to  during the  whole  milk  event   ...   and even then,   the  memory  was  a  little  foggy.    however,  she remembered her being nice.     nothing wrong with trying to make more friends,   jane.

        A  GRASP  UPON  THE  MULTIVERSAL  CONCEPT   /   to  be  clear ,  there  isn’t  much  that  the  one  known  as  KIRK  LANGSTROM  didn’t  know .  the  self  proclaimed  brains  of  the  trinity  of  justice ,  to  be  OMNISCIENT  wasn’t  a  goal  as  much  as  it  was  a  possibility .  to  say  his  home  was  the  only  one  of  his  kind  would  merely  be  an  uneducated  fallacy  ;  a  mistake  he  would  not  be  one  to  make .  it  was  why ,  at  his  request ,  kirk  found  himself  in  lands  unknown .  with  bekka’s  access  to  the  mythical  BOOM  TUBES  to  hernan’s  raw  unmatched  power ,  multiversal  travel  was  no  longer  a  curiosity .  

         the  night  was  dark  ;  DARKNESS  more  of  a  friend  as  of  late  than  most .  eyes  of  INFRARED  searching.  scanning.  there  was  more  to  know   &  he  would  find  what  he  was  looking  for .  eventually .
