The Myrmecoleon is a hybrid of an ant and a lion. The Myrmecoleon is a hybrid of an ant and a lion that appeared in Old World Bestiaries and is said to have the head of a lion and the body of an ant. It is said that Myrmecoleons died because the lion half of the creature wanted meat and the ant part needed plant matter and not being able to digest either caused them to starve to death. The Myrmecoleons live in large mounds since they themselves are lion sized and they attack in groups and are said to be able to communicate with cats and insects as well as being able to secrete venom from their abdomens.
