Just close your eyes for a while Cry. He’ll be okay.
He glanced at Daemon for a second, hesitant.
"I...."
......
Exhaling, he nodded slowly before leaning against his chair, using his arm as a pillow. "Fine.."

Hey guys, here’s a little chapter from the second book I’ve been working on called Survival of the Weakest. If you’re into fantasy, magic and friendship, give it a read and tell me what you think. c:
An Excpert from The Book Of Life, by me.
“STOP! MAKE IT STOP!” Jakob howled in agony. Then, as swiftly as the screams started, they quieted. Jakob fell forward, dead. Seconds later, he began to disintegrate into a pile of blue ash. Nora felt a terrible sense of alarm inside of her mind. Something was off. Kael was powerful, but to make someone outright fall over dead with only a dirty look? Surely not even he was that strong. Then, just as if to prove otherwise, Zoe too fell over onto her knees. Whatever was happening to her must have been different than what happened to Jakob, because all she did was cough. Felmir seemed to have more of a different attitude with the potential death of his second companion, Zoe, than he did with his son. Even as she was reduced to being on all fours, retching the most horrible sounding gags, he didn’t even look in her general direction. Then, just as Jakob before her, Zoe collapsed onto the ground, dead. Only seconds later, she too disintegrated into a pile of blue ash. Felmir looked to the two glistening piles of azure powder on either side of him, then to Kael. The look on his face was of chagrin and subtle outrage. “Well. That was highly---” “Enough,” Kael interrupted with a voice so malignant, it sounded almost inhuman. Nora looked to him and felt uneasy. It was like staring up at a vast, calm blue sky but knowing a terrible storm was fast approaching. Even without a cloud in sight, the sensation of dread fills your belly and the familiar metallic taste of energy hangs on your tongue. The only real difference here is that Nora had witnessed a few thunderstorms, but never a hurricane. “My love, my life. Dead. Because of your ignorance and fear, my precious Sophia is dead. She will never again know another warmth of summer's twilight sun. She will never witness her only son grow and reach manhood. She will never--” Kael choked up, focusing more on fighting back a torrent of tears than speaking. He looked up from the ground, and now Nora could see his worn face clearly. Tears streamed down from his powerful eyes, flowing over his his withered cheeks and finally into his pointed, ebony beard. Between the flux of hatred and overwhelming sadness, Nora felt tied between consoling Kael and killing the instigators herself. “You’ve taken away one of two things that keeps this tired, old man from raining hellfire onto your homes and melting the flesh from your bones. For the betterment of my conscious, the safety of you impudent, witless morons, and the honor of the now deceased love of my life, you will not take him.” Despite knowing this was all a dream, Nora felt no less affected by the growing power that radiated from Kael’s body. The then infant Cryptoe, now awake and hovering just overhead in his half-shell of blood, was grinning wide, like he knew something the rest of them did not.
