What do you think about Giles's "Ripper" past?

I don’t think much, really. His past wasn’t really explored in the show (although it was in the comics). As far as I know, when Giles was a teenager he got into dark magic, with some serious consequences to him and his friends, which changed him into a more thoughtful, responsible, rule-abiding person. Maybe his attitude in Band Candy was informed by the dark magic? 

I think Giles’s past should’ve been explored more, especially since it explains his “stuffiness” in the beginning. Looking back, dorky Giles was probably a bit of a character Giles played, born out of his fear of becoming his darkest self again. But with everything that happened in season 2, that side of his began to surface again, until it eventually became a part of him. Giles from season 2 onward is always a mix of stuffy, nerdy Giles, and Ripper Giles. But like I said, the writers should’ve expanded on Giles’s Ripper side, especially in season 6, because of Dark!Willow and the parallels between the two.

Lots and lots of practice, experimenting, and looking up coloring tutorials and inspiration from my favorite creators and blogs

@itsphotoshop has great tutorials for coloring that I used a lot when I was getting started out, so I always recommend them

I don’t hate him but I don’t like him lol. He just is kind of bland and my least favorite character because we don’t get much of a personality from him :(

Sorry for the late reply! I can try, but I’d have to figure out of finding references in the later seasons to what transpired in season 2 since there really isn’t a scene like the one in season 6 that summarizes the whole season. But I’ll work on it!
