I love that you’re resuming older stories! I remember love bug from a long time ago, but I don’t want to date myself hehe.

Here’s another question for you: do you have favorite tropes, genres, or characters to write for?

Ohh great timing with your question, you were just in time for a new Marry Me chapter!

I think we are all dating ourselves here just by existing in this fandom. 🥲 But yes I actually really loved the idea of Love Bug, I just felt like I failed on the execution after the first few chapters and then went on the mother of all hiatuses. Once I wrap up Delicate and @mystikoorime and I start on our next project, I’ll be working on Love Bug on the side.

Let’s see~ my favorite things to write for:

Trope: now that I think about it, I really don’t have a favorite trope to write. 🥸

Genre: Even though I’ve only delved into it a small amount, I absolutely love writing anything horror-adjacent.

Character: Yusuke is always my favorite character write. He’s just funny. His snarky, bad ass nature is pretty easy to manifest. A close second is Hiei, who can be so unintentionally funny while writing. He always has opinions lmao. None of them good. And I feel like I should include a least favorite here, which for me is Kurama. I struggle to capture him in writing and have occasionally requested mysti’s input on his dialogue. Love him but he’s a real biotch to get right.

So glad you’re enjoying Marry Me! The latest chapter was really fun to write (and mostly I just mean it was fun to torture poor Hiei) and I was itching to share it 🤭 @mystikoorime and I will continue to collab for the foreseeable future (hopefully forever). Tbh it’s just not as fun writing without her. I don’t really want to spoil our next project coming up but I’ll definitely spoil my solo fics.

1. Complete Delicate! I’ve been short on time lately but I can’t wait to get the last chapter out. It comes with a little playlist too. 🎼

2. Continue The Love Bug. A fic I started years ago on fanfiction.net. It’s not abandoned! (Hiei got f’d up by a love potion).

3. Continue The Big Bang. Same as stated above. (Dystopian world/save the world).

4. A royal AU inspired by art made by @rimhyokang for HB week 2024. May be a one-shot, may be a chapter story.

Y’all don’t understand. I’ve loved Hiei and Botan since the ancient days of fanfic.net and ye dusty forums of olde. The fact you’re still here and now teaming up?? Legend behavior. But HOW did this happen?? Get ready for a two parter:

1. What’s the lore behind your team up?

2. What’s the origin behind the collab?

Ohhh man, the HB forum! I miss the good old days. 🤣 the YYH fandom was thriving with all us 13 year olds.

Funny enough, me and @mystikoorime started chatting back at that age. I’m not even sure how we originally connected but it must have been through forums or messages on FF.net and just never stopped since the times of AOL 🤭 we met up a few times and somehow we were NOT catfished by a 50 year old man 😂😂😂 she’s a great friend and has always been a sounding board for my ideas and the person who kept me motivated when writing.

The collab started WAY before we ever even released Hiei’s Thoughts for HB week 2024. We had a collab idea years ago that unfortunately didn’t see the light of day. It’s much easier to share and edit docs now than it was back then. I’m really excited for this one though because ao3 allows us to do really fun things for a modern AU.

Omg y’all are adorable and I’m obsessed with this whole process already 😭💙 Assuming mysti sees this too (hi mysti 👋), can I ask do you ever worry your styles might clash or you’ll disagree on something big? Or like, how do you deal if one of you doesn’t love the other’s idea? As a fellow writer I find collabs so fascinating but also mildly terrifying to commit to. 🫣 How do you survive it emotionally?

I’m never really concerned about clashing style because of all the editing that everything goes through. Plus where I tend to be weak she is strong and vice versa. It just works out! 🥹

There are a few things we have had to table because the other doesn’t like it or doesn’t think it fits. I’d rather hear her honest opinion and work out something we both like than move forward with something she doesn’t feel 100% confident about. I also think it’s easier for me to take criticism from MystiK because I have had her critique so much of my work in the past when I felt like something wasn’t working.

For me, it’s way more fun than writing on my own. It’s better with a friend, having someone to get excited over things with while we go. 🙂🙃

I did sort of take a break. By sort of, I mean I wanted to dive straight into my other projects after Marry Me but life got in the way. I wanted to have Delicate wrapped up for you guys in the middle of June but here we are at the end of July. The hold up in July has been that I’ve been on a jury for 3 weeks on top of working nights. Save me.

Anywho, the last chapter of Delicate is halfway finished. Once that is out of the way, me and Mysti are teaming back up! And I’ve started working on The Love Bug rewrite.

In the very distant past (in like 2004 or something) I did a few drabbles for Naruto that are on FF.net and started (and never finished lmao) some Rurouni Kenshin fanfic. I wouldn’t mind delving into one of my many other ships if some crazy inspiration came to me but for the most part I see myself staying in my lane. 😂

I can’t imagine myself collabing with anyone other than @mystikoorime . It requires a lot of synergy. And on top of that, flexibility and being able to take constructive criticism or allowing someone else to edit and change your own work. And to let someone see the absolute trash you start out with before getting things right 😶‍🌫️. I think if someone other than her changed something I wrote, I’d bite their head off.

And for your last ask: I actually do have a fanfic pet peeve but I shall keep it to myself so I don’t insult any poor sod who actually read all the nonsense I’ve written today.
