Emma becomes the DO: Everyone has to save her right away and her true love is still met with a DO he can handle cause she’s just irritating and hypocritical but not evil, at least not compared to Rumple in his darkest DO moments.
Rumple is the DO: No one can be around him but Belle. No one takes time to care about him. We have to keep him as isolated as possible so his character remains mysterious.
