Sarah jumped in her car and drove to Adrian's house as fast as she could, knowing she had made a huge mistake and she had to do whatever she could to fix it. Making mistakes wasn't something she was new to, but making one she regret so much was not something she was use to. Parking on the side of the street and jogging up to the front of the house and knocked on the door. "Please open up Adrian." She said through the door, in case he was one the other side.

Thomas tapped a cigarette out of the carton and looked about him to see if anyone else happened by. This was his and Miss O'Brien's favorite smoking spot, and Thomas had announced his intention to go for a smoke in front of everyone in the servants' hall that evening. Then he'd glanced over at Miss O'Brien and nodded--their code for "I've got news." He waited for Miss O'Brien to make her appearance outside, taking in a great lungful of smoke.
