I might be a terribly forgetful fan, but was there ever any context about Nick failing the firearms eval? It was just always a random thing to me, especially considering it lasted a whole half ep

there wasn't, actually which is kind of odd cause you think they would? but it was an interesting bit and I wished they explained it more or focused on it a bit more, cause then when you reach that one part of GD and think about how he failed his firearms exam, well, that episode could have gone wayyyy differently

(shamelessly self promoting, I did write a fic about it where I tried to come up with a reason...here)

edit: well okay, they do kinda explain a reason in canon--nick says he’s rusty and has a flinch which indicates that maybe he was just out of practice, but they never go further than that.
