Nina is still thinking about Into the Spider-Verse, but her recommendation is a song that is missing from the official soundtrack: Want It Here by Xenia Pax. The song, which is Peni Parker’s extended theme, sounds like a factory of code and pixels—essentially, what the inside of Nina’s brain sounds like on her best days of productivity.

Nina recommends the audiobook of Jane Eyre read by Thandie Newton. She remembers loving the book when she read it in high school (and getting AP English credits for essays she wrote about it!), but Newton’s performance makes the experience uniquely exquisite. It’s a long listen, but highly worth it.

As we gird ourselves for the one-two punch of Marvel's latest cinematic offerings, Bob recommends this piece by CSI researcher Andrew Dana Hudson. The essay looks at last year's galactic beat-em-up, Avengers: Infinity War, and provides a set of alternate (and arguably more meaningful) plot machinations, based on Hudson's training as an award-winning speculative fiction writer.

Joey recommends Hohokum, a beautiful, serene indie game for Sony’s Playstation consoles. The experience of Hohokum is more like listening to an album or meditating than it is like playing a traditional video game; there are no loss conditions, scores, or time limits. You play as a colorful snake-y creature navigating surreal environments, interacting with delightfully drawn characters and objects: kites, plants, streetlights, abstract shapes. The electronic soundtrack from the record label Ghostly International helps you bliss out, continuously changing and undulating in response to things you do during gameplay.
